As Graham Backburn states, “ because of the greater availability of a wide array of materials than ever before, and because of an ever-expanding awareness of historical and cross-cultural esthetics, 20th-century furniture is perhaps more diverse, in terms of style, than the entire three centuries that preceded it!”
